Apple Hill

Since A has been laid off, we have been making attempts to take advantage of the less-crowded weekdays by going to public places. (I make it sound like we are a couple of agoraphobes. We're not. It's just ... people piss us off.) Yesterday we went to an early-bird matinee. We did some early grocery shopping as well.

Today we visited the very popular Apple Hill in Placerville. Everyone in Northern California knows traffic is worse than a nightmare on weekends at Apple Hill. I recall being trapped amid parked cars on the two-lane road leading to what some call mecca ... otherwise known as High Hill Ranch, Boa Vista and Abel's Apple Acres. At the time, the driver of our vehicle had some serious bathroom needs. Thankfully he made it unscathed, but I think all of our nerves were equally shattered while anticipating arrival to the commode.

A Tuesday drive to Apple Hill makes much more sense. No traffic and plenty of parking. But, today's visit to Apple Hill did reveal a few unfortunate facts:
1. There still are idiots in public on weekdays; just in fewer quantities.
2. One should expect to pay a lot of money for products at Apple Hill.
3. There are no corn dogs or turnovers at Boa Vista and its employees do not know why.
4. The knoll leading to the BFA duck pond is muddy and Grandpas wearing business shoes should proceed with caution.

We did enjoy our time together and the beautiful Sierras matched today's perfect weather. What blessings surround us! Just have to be on the lookout.

People don't piss us off, but standing in line pisses us off. So we are early birds too. :) Greg was also a happily laid-off guy in April and we took advantage of the time we had during those days! SO, come visit NC (or just come move there!?).
